We all love biryani. Don’t we? Biryani has a special place in everyone’s heart. And let’s admit, we go to great lengths to satiate our biryani cravings – from whipping it at home to exploring every possible biryani joint in the city. Indian Politician Rahul Gandhi was recently seen whipping up and relishing Tamil Nadu’s famous ‘kaalan biryani’ (mushroom biryani) on a popular online cooking show. Uploaded on popular YouTube channel ‘Village Cooking Channel’, the video went viral on social media in no time, garnering over 90 lakh views in less than 48 hours.

The 14-minute-video features Rahul Gandhi helping the chefs to prepare a handi-full of ‘kaalan biryani’ and later enjoying the food sitting on a mat. He was seen adding vengayam (onion), thayir (curd) and kalluppu (rock salt) to the dish. “It smells very nice. It is looking very nice also,” he stated. He also appreciated them in Tamil, saying “romba nalla irukku” (stand for: very nice).

Besides, he was also seen talking to the chefs and enquiring about their future plans, followed by some light-hearted conversation.

The video ends with Mr. Gandhi asking the chefs (YouTubers) to cook their special ‘termite curry’ for him on his next visit to Tamil Nadu.

This 14-minute-long video garnered more than 50k comments on YouTube. While some appreciated it saying, “great job”, others felt it to be “inspiring.”

“Finally, the conclusion of this video is ‘Love doesn’t have language’,” read a comment.
