South Delhi Municipal Corporation, in an eco-friendly move, has inaugurated about 23 ‘garbage cafes’ across the city, following the footsteps of Gujarat and Chattisgarh. In a bid to reduce the plastic waste, the idea of these cafes is to deposit at least one kilogram of plastic waste to the garbage cafes – which are essentially Delhi restaurants partnering with South Delhi’s civic body for this venture. This would give a free coupon to the depositor for breakfast, lunch or dinner to be redeemed at one of 23 locations across the city.
