Petrol, Diesel Rates Cut For Second Straight Day Across Metros On Thursday

Fuel Prices: Domestic petrol and diesel prices vary across states due to value added tax (VAT).

Petrol, Diesel Prices Today: Petrol and diesel prices were cut across the four metros for the second consecutive session, i.e. Thursday March 25. In Delhi, the price of petrol has been reduced by 21 paise from Rs 90.99 per litre to Rs 90.78 per litre and diesel has been cut by 20 paise from Rs 81.30 per litre to Rs 81.10 per litre. The revised rates of petrol and diesel in Mumbai stand at Rs 97.19 per litre and Rs 88.20 per litre respectively, according to the state-run oil refiner  (Also Read: How To Find Latest Petrol, Diesel Rates In Your City)

The domestic petrol and diesel rates vary across states due to the value-added tax. The oil marketing companies – Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation, as well as Hindustan Petroleum align the prices of domestic fuel with the global benchmarks, by taking into account any changes in the foreign exchange rates. Any changes in fuel rates are implemented with effect from 6 am each day. 

Meanwhile, oil prices skidded around 2 per cent as fuel demand concerns re-emerged alongside fresh coronavirus pandemic lockdowns, trimming overnight gains spurred by the grounding of a giant container ship blocking crude shipments through the Suez Canal.

Brent crude futures slid $1.14, or 1.8%, to $63.27 a barrel at 0139 GMT, after jumping 6 per cent overnight. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped by $1.27, or 2.1 per cent, to $59.91 a barrel, after climbing 5.9 per cent overnight.
