Mosquitoes Buzz in MP Assembly as Cong Slams CM Over Bus Tragedy Inaction, ‘Shallow’ Comment Says BJP

Amid a heated debate on the Sidhi bus accident, which had killed 54 passengers recently, ‘mosquitoes’ buzzed in the Madhya Pradesh assembly on Monday. The remark comes after Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who had visited the Sidhi district after the road mishap, complained of a mosquito bite at the PWS guest house in the night. Sub-engineer Babulal Gupta was suspended for slackness. Two increments of senior engineer Devendra Kumar Singh were also stopped as a punitive action.

Congress leaders said they would honour the mosquitoes if they find it somewhere. Congress MLA Kamleshwar Patel had moved an adjournment motion demanding a debate on the Sidhi bus accident in the assembly. After the speaker accepted the adjournment motion, Patel accused the state government and administration of the tragedy and alleged that guilty officers are yet to be punished.

Former minister PC Sharma said that officers get suspended due to mosquitoes but no action is taken when MLAs and ministers raise complaints. Urging the media to bring the mosquitoes to them if their cameras locate it, the minister said the party would host a public felicitation for the mosquitoes.

Mohan Yadav from the BJP retaliated, saying the Congress party is taking the Sidhi bus tragedy lightly. “Had Congress offered constructive suggestions, the state government would have accepted it, but such shallow comments are unbecoming of opposition,” he added.
