The fashion and beauty world has been transformed by the pandemic. Work from home and wearing masks brought a whole new perspective on how clothing, makeup and accessories are being perceived. Bizarre fashion trends, however, still abound and continue to take individuals by surprise. Late last year, we saw popular brand Moschino launch an all-new Baguette bag which left Twitter users in splits. The sling bag was shaped like the oblong French bread, with a ‘Croissant’ cross-body bag as an alternative too. And now, another eccentric fashion creation has shocked netizens. Italian luxury brand Prada has released a brand-new sweater which, according to Twitter users, resembles Swiss cheese.
Swiss cheese is traditionally known world-over to have a hard texture with holes inside.
The Openwork viscose turtleneck sweater was launched as part of Prada’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection. It is ‘Sunny Yellow’ in colour and features long sleeves and a ‘precious openwork motif with placed holes’ as per the description on the website. According to many users, the yellow sweater with holes reminded users of the famous fermented cheese of Switzerland. These dense, cheeses are prepared with cow’s milk and are known world-over for their unique appearance with huge holes inside, which are formed when bacteria release carbon dioxide in the form of air bubbles.
Priced at 905 Pounds (Rs. 80,000/- approximately), the sweater soon found its way to social media. Apart from its exorbitant price, users called it out for looking exactly like a slab of cheese and not serving the purpose of a sweater.
