Akhilesh Launches Cycle Yatra, Says ‘Moving Wheels’ of SP Will Bring About a Change of Govt

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday kicked off a 350-km long ‘Cycle Yatra‘ from Rampur. At the flag-off event, the SP chief termed the day as historic and asserted the campaign will result in a change of “political season” and the government in the state. Speaking metaphorically, Yadav claimed that every time youth donning red caps take to the streets on cycles, the governments at the state-level are shaken. The bicycle is the electoral symbol of SP.

“In 2011, when the cycle was ridden, the government of that time was wiped out the next year. The paddle has not been hit on the bicycle yet and the weather has changed. The political season of the country and the nation too will definitely change with the cycle journey, that begins from Rampur. The BJP government will not survive. It will go away for sure,” said Yadav.

The former chief minister of the state, while addressing a large gathering present before the ‘Samajwadi Cycle Yatra‘ started from Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur, said the moving wheels of SP will signify prosperity and development in the state.

Yadav led a cycle tour starting from the Jauhar University. Along with him, dozens of MLAs, state presidents of youth organisations and other frontal organisations of the Samajwadi Party joined the ‘Cycle Yatra’.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, the SP chief said, “There aren’t many days left for the elections. Soon, after the panchayat elections and West Bengal polls, the election stir in Uttar Pradesh will begin. We have to be careful with the BJP’s conspiracies. What is happening in Bengal can also happen with you and me.”

“Yesterday, as part of a conspiracy, at first the electricity of the lift was cut off in Moradabad so that we get stuck inside,” he alleged.

Hinting at conspiracy behind MP Azam Khan being booked in several cases, he said, “Khan and his family and all his associates have been prosecuted under serious sections. They have been implicated in false cases. Azam Khan is the only leader who has been prosecuted so much. He made a brilliant educational institution like Jauhar University so that the future generations would be benefit from it.”

On March 12, a press conference on the matter will be conducted at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, Rampur. The next day, state president Naresh Uttam Patel will flag off the ‘Cycle Yatra‘ from Ambedkar Park, Rampur to Bareilly. On March 14, SP leader Ramgovind Chaudhary will flag off the yatra from Mirganj, Bareilly, which will head towards Katra. Akhilesh Yadav’s bicycle will reach Shahjahanpur from Katra on March 16 and Maigalganj from Shahjahanpur on March 17. The next day it will be in Sitapur where, on March 19, former state minister and senior SP leader Ahmad Hassan will flag off the yatra. On March 21, the trip will culminate at the SP headquarters in Lucknow where Yadav will address a gathering as well.
