New Delhi:
West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh’s comments on his Trinamool Congress rival and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s leg injury has been criticised on social media as sexist and inappropriate.
At a rally in Bengal’s Purulia on Tuesday, Mr Ghosh took a swipe at Ms Banerjee’s style of campaigning – “She wants to show her plastered leg to everyone. Why doesn’t she just wear a pair of bermudas?”
“Her plaster was cut, then crepe bandage was tied, and now she is showing legs to everyone. She is wearing a saree and one leg is showing and one is not. I have not seen anyone wear a saree like this. If u want to show legs then why are u wearing saree, wear a Bermuda, then everyone can see clearly,” Mr Ghosh said.
Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra criticised the BJP leader for the comment. In a tweet, Ms Moitra called the state BJP chief a “pervert”.
