Uttar Pradesh Can Never Become ‘Uttam Pradesh’ Under BJP Rule: Akhilesh Yadav

The Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday launched a scathing attack against the BJP-led state government and said Uttar Pradesh can never become an ‘Uttam Pradesh’ (best state) due to lack of security amidst the people. He also said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who has failed to manage the state is busy visiting other states. “The state will not be able to recover from the infamy and misery in the current regime. There is jungle raj everywhere. The administration has become completely dysfunctional due to political interference,” he said.

In a statement, the SP Chief said, “According to Ease of Living Index 2020, it is evident that not a single city in the state is in the top ten. Health and residential services, drinking water, sanitation etc. have not been found good in the cities of UP. What a shameful condition that Lucknow, the capital, has stayed at the 26th place in the list of cities in the country.”

“The law and order situation in the state is such that a policeman shot himself in front of the Vidhan Bhavan. The number of people who attempted self-immolation in front of Lok Bhavan has also not been reduced. In Sambhal, the incident of suicide due to the incessant threat to rape victim, non-justice, is sad as well as a sample of crossing all limits of atrocities,” Yadav said.

Further attacking the ruling BJP government, he said there is no control over the increasing crimes against women and girls in the state. “The Samajwadi Party government had formulated schemes like UP Dial 100 and 1090 for crime control. The BJP government has also ruined these schemes and is now trying to trick people with guns like Pink Booth, Nari Shakti,” he said.

Referring to the two murder cases registered from Etah district in the last two days alone, he highlighted the gang rapes in Aligarh, Mahoba, Amroha and “VVIP district” Gorakhpur shows how low the morale of the police system. He also listed the murder of a teenage girl in Bulandshahr and the murder case in Moradabad.

Accusing Adityanath of shedding “crocodile tears” on political killings in Bengal, Yadav said he has been silent on the killing of Samajwadi Party leaders and crimes in Uttar Pradesh. “In Etawah, miscreants shot and killed a Samajwadi Party leader. The public is determined to speed up the ‘cycle’ to end the misrule of the present BJP government through voting in the 2022 assembly elections,” he said.
