Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti has urged the state government to ban liquor in the state and find other ways to compensate for the loss of revenue.
“Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP state president VD Sharma are also as much in favour of the alcohol ban as I am,” she said.
Speaking with media persons, Bharti said, “There will definitely be a ban on alcohol sale and purchase in the state. Each one of us will have to spread awareness about the issue.”
The BJP leader also requested people to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19, saying, “The vaccine is beneficial. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also got himself vaccinated. If the vaccine was not right, would the Prime Minister be put in danger?”
MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has backed the social awareness campaign launched against liquor by Bharti early this month. He affirmed that liquor will continue to be supplied if there are consumers. Bharti’s announcement comes after the opposition has been targeting the BJP-led state government for converting MP into ‘land of liquor’.
After Bharti’s announcement, several BJP leaders claimed that the party’s senior leader was talking about social awareness against liquor which has been BJP’s motto.
