UK Chocolatier Creates Giant Choco-Copter To Raise Funds For A Cause

Easter was celebrated all over the world on Sunday, 4th April, 2021. The day is usually marked by making a number of delicious creations, such as chocolate bunnies, Easter eggs, and hot cross buns. A UK-based chocolatier took his Easter egg-making skills and put them to philanthropic use. Jan Hansen has created a helicopter honouring air ambulance workers, and believe it or not, the unique creation is made entirely with chocolate! The mouth-watering delight measures 100kg and is 9 feet long and 7 feet high. Everything including the body of the helicopter, the rotor blades and the windows are made with chocolate. While the body is made with white chocolate, the other elements are constituted of white chocolate.

Interestingly, the skilled chocolatier used a giant Easter egg mould to structure the choco-copter. Hansen is based in Folkingham, Lincolnshire and he hopes to use the giant choco-copter to raise money for a cause. The idea is to draw attention to the local Air Ambulance services which have been struggling to raise funds during the testing times of the Corona pandemic.

“We all see the helicopter in our skies from time to time and are thankful they are there for us. Listening to how they’ve been short-changed over the past twelve months it just fitted into the slot really: egg, helicopter,” Hansen told BBC.

Hansen also said the helicopter was a bigger challenge than he initially thought out to be. However, he was not one to give up the struggle to complete it. Currently, the main aim is to keep the giant choco-copter from melting. It will later be broken off and sold in pieces to collect donations.
