Modi Promises ‘Asol Parivartan’ Soon
Hitting out at wall graffiti of the Trinamool Congress depicting an injured Mamata Banerjee playing football with his head, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Didi (Banerjee) can kick him, but he would not further allow her to become a hurdle before Bengal’s development. Addressing an election rally at Tilabedya Maidan near Bankura University on Sunday, Modi said, “I always bow my head to serve my beloved nation and my people. This is what we have learnt from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s ideology. Didi you can keep your feet on my head, you can kick me too, but I will not allow you to hit the development, aspirations and dreams of the people of Bengal.”
Further, taking a jibe at the TMC supremo’s recent comment that she doesn’t like his face, Modi said, “Didi is saying that she doesn’t like my face. But Didi I wear a mask all the time and above all, in a democracy, the face does not matter. Only thing that matters here is your service to the people. Your service to the nation. Didi thought that people would not question her, but today the entire Bengal is questioning her credibility in running the government.”
Stating that BJP believes in schemes for the poor, he said, “The TMC runs on ‘scam’, while BJP runs on schemes. The TMC doesn’t allow our schemes where there is no possibility of indulging in scams due to direct bank transfers. It is unfortunate that the ruling party has painted central schemes (meant for the poor) as scams.”
“Didi is saying ‘khela hobe’ (game on) but we are saying ‘vikas hobe’ (development on). The TMC is busy in ‘khela’, but we care about the poor people of Bengal. Didi left no stone unturned to malign us. But we are not like them. On May 2 (election result day), ‘Didi’ is going and ‘asol parivartan’ (real change) is coming to Bengal. The BJP’s double-engine government will ensure development in the state,” he added.
He vowed to ensure implementation of central schemes like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and Ayushman Bharat in the first cabinet meeting of the next government if the BJP is elected to power in the state.
Modi also said that the ruling camp is responsible for the water crisis in the state “I would like to assure you that we will ensure drinking water to every household in Bengal,” Modi said while further blaming Banerjee for the migration of skilled workers due to lack of job opportunities.
The PM also brought up the topic of Banerjee’s alleged disapproval of the BJP’s using of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and her politics of appeasing minorities. “She gets angry with Lord Ram’s slogan. Her anger is nothing, but to appease a section of society.”
Responding to Banerjee’s doubts about proper functioning of EVMs, Modi said, “Nowadays, Didi is questioning the credibility of EVMs. This is the same machine that helped her to come to power. This proves her fear of losing polls.”
