India recorded 1,61,736 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, slightly lower than yesterday, pushing the country’s caseload to over 1.36 crore. The resurgence of the virus led to 879 new deaths, down from yesterday’s 904, taking the total death count to 1,71,058. Number of reported cases typically fall on Tuesdays because of delayed results from tests done on weekends.
