“You guys did it. Chicken #McgrillisBack on popular demand in stores near you. You read it right, YOU WIN,” wrote the official handle for McDonald’s India on Instagram. The Chicken McGrill had been taken off menus in 2019 when outlets had reopened in Delhi. This was on account of it being one of the ‘least popular’ items in the menu. However, an online petition filled by fans to reinstate the burger became extremely popular online. Netizens came forward to support the cause, which was supported by actor Neha Dhupia, renown comedian Abhishek Upmanyu, radio jockey and social media influencer RJ Abhinav.
